What a body treatment visit involves
Body treatment visits differ by method, though most follow a pattern:
- A consultation about your health, medicines and the area.
- A look at the area, and sometimes measurements or photos for your record.
- The treatment itself: an applicator or handpiece placed on the skin, or a massage done by hand.
- Aftercare instructions, such as staying hydrated or what sensations to expect.
- A plan for any further visits, if you choose to go ahead.
A licensed provider decides what is suitable, and you can take time to think before agreeing to anything.
Lymphatic massage: what a provider considers
Lymphatic massage is gentle, and a provider still asks questions first. They will want to know about heart conditions, kidney conditions, blood clots or a history of them, active infections, and any recent surgery. If you have swelling in an area, they may ask whether a doctor has checked it.
Ask who performs the massage and what training they have, how long a visit takes, and how often people usually come back. If you have a diagnosed condition such as lymphedema, ask whether your doctor should be involved. A licensed provider decides what is suitable.
Getting ready for a body treatment consultation
A few notes make a body treatment consultation more useful:
- the area or areas you want to ask about
- your health conditions, especially heart, circulation, nerve or skin conditions
- implanted devices or metal implants
- medicines and supplements, including blood thinners
- recent surgery, and whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding
- any past body treatments and how you found them
Bring the notes, photo ID and your questions. A licensed provider uses them to decide what is suitable.
Questions about body treatments
Are body treatments the same as surgery?
No. The body treatments on a med spa menu are non-surgical, with no incisions or general anesthesia. If you want to ask about surgery, a surgeon is the right person to see. A licensed provider at a med spa can tell you when that is the case.
What is lymphatic massage?
It is a gentle, hands-on massage technique using light, slow strokes in a set pattern. A provider will ask about heart, kidney and blood clot history, infections and recent surgery first. If you have a diagnosed condition such as lymphedema, ask whether your doctor should be involved.
Does this site perform body treatments?
No. This site has no staff, providers or clinic. It passes your consultation request to a provider in or near Salt Lake City. That provider decides what is suitable after a consultation, and cost is set by them.

Ask about your skin
Tell a local provider what you would like to discuss about your skin, and they can talk through treatments with you.
Injectables
Wrinkle relaxers and dermal fillers, given by licensed providers where state law allows. Ask a local provider about them.
Laser consults
Laser hair removal usually takes a series of sessions. A provider can explain what that may look like for you.
